ADDitions

We presently have over 100 ADDitions volunteers who have contributed 3,000 hours toward the Golden School Award administered through OCPS. These  volunteers contribute to our students "Being the Top Producer of Successful Students in the Nation."

After School Tutoring

Third, fourth, and fifth grade students are invited to small group tutoring in reading or math two days a week at no charge.  Following one hour of focused tutoring students attend Enrichment Clubs. Clubs may include: cooking, art, dance, gardening, physical fitness, golf, math games, Legos, and hands on science activities.

Chorus

Third through fifth grade students have the opportunity to showcase their musical abilities on Monday afternoon and performances throughout the year.

Elementary Honor Society

Cheney has formed a chapter of the Elementary Honor Society. Select fourth and fifth grade students sponsor activities such as our food drive, caring for our school garden and Pasta for Pennies.

Family Nights

Every year Cheney invites students and parents to spend an evening exploring the world of literacy, math, and science during our Literacy Night, Math Games & Bingo Night, and STEM Night.

Recycling

Our students are very conscientious about keeping our environment clean and green. Each classroom has recycle bins an milk cartons and plates are recycled from the cafeteria each day.  Students collect pop tops and donate them to the Ronald McDonald House.
